“As of Now” is a phrase I have said many times throughout the pandemic. I use this phrase whenever someone asks me about my plans in the near future. I want to let them know “As of now, this is my plan but I am well aware that the pandemic may force me to change my plan”. My piece, “As of Now” goes back and forth from the perceived certainty and the reality of uncertainty of the pandemic. I illustrate the “perceived certainty” by using regular phrasing and consonant intervals, and I illustrate the reality of uncertainty through time signature changes and non-chord tones.
