Program Notes

Much of the inspiration for my piece, Arctic Wind, came from the ensemble’s name, Stellae Boreales. For most of the compositional process, I used Stellae Boreales as a placeholder title, which brought to mind the magnificence of the northern lights and the bitter cold of the Arctic. After listening to the finished work, I chose the title Arctic Wind to capture both the force of the polar climate and the striking beauty of the North.
